Contract boosts young Cowden hope

Cowdenbeath yesterday handed a confidence booster to broken-leg victim Craig McMillan. The 19-year-old midfielder broke his leg in two places against St Johnstone in August and has been sidelined since.

But the Central Park club yesterday handed a new contract to the teenager as he fights to get back to fitness.

Manager Gary Kirk said: 'Although the bone at the front is healing, the one at the back is taking more time. 'It is difficult for the young lad but we have given him a new contract and he is delighted.'

Meanwhile, Cowden were out of pocket over the weekend when blizzard conditions ko'd their game at Peterhead.

Said Kirk: 'We wanted to prepare properly and went to the expense of travelling north on Friday and staying overnight.'
