Weekend Review: Divs Two and Three

Division Two: Bankies French fancy

Clydebank are to bid to sign two Frenchmen ahead of their League Cup clash with Alloa.

Manager Steve Morrison will aim to fix up two-goal striker Fal Eddy and midfielder Erik Taborda, who were both impressive in the 2-2 draw with Stirling Albion.

Morrison said: 'We were alerted to them by an agent and they have been training with us. We will hve further talks tomorrow.'

Stirling went ahead through Ally Graham but Eddy levelled it in 20 minutes and three minutes later put the Bankies ahead when he headed home a Tommy Coyne cross. But Albion hit back with a Craig Feroz equaliser.

Berwick coach Paul Smith could be in trouble at the SFA after lashing out at referee Cammy Melville as his side was left with nine men in their 1-0 defeat at Queen's Park, courtesy of a Steve Marshall strike.

Berwick saw red twice as the clash flared into controversy. Midfielder Gordon Forrest and Alan Neill were ordered off.

Said Smith: 'The first sending off was not a foul. Even their manager John McCormack did not think the lad should have been sent off.'

Stenhousemuir manager Brian Fairley looked on in shock as his side lost a three-goal interval lead and then lifted the three points thanks to a last minute strike from David Menelays to earn a 4-3 win over Queen of the South.

During that first half David Wood, Isaac English and Menelaws fired them ahead but Queens battled back and, even though they had Tony Nelson sent off, they pulled level with Jonathon Sunderland, Andy Martin and Andy Aitken on target.

Arbroath drew 1-1 with visitors Partick Thistle. Thistle took the lead through Scott McLean in 37 minutes. George Rowe's header then pulled Arbroath level before the interval.

Goals from Ian Harty and Mike Gerraghty earned Stranraer a 2-0 win over Forfar at Stair Park.

Division Three: Herd it all before

Billy Herd has made his own little piece of history - twice.

Herd crashed in the first goal for Peterhead on Saturday against Montrose as they made a winning start to life in the Scottish League.

And Peterhead boss Ian Wilson yesterday disclosed: 'He scored our first goal in senior football, and also scored Ross County's first goal in senior football.' Peterhead's points were secured after Martin Johnstone added a second.

But the other newcomers Elgin were not so fortunate as they went down 2- 1 at Brechin. Although Mark Slythe opened the scoring, Kevin Bain and Roddy Grant replied for the Glebe Park side.

Hamilton beat visitors Dumbarton 2-0, with Alex Eadie and Allan Russell on target.

Keith Wright and Mark Bradley scored for Cowdenbeath in their 2-0 victory.

Albion Rovers lost to East Fife when Jamie McKenzie scored a last-minute own goal.
